Recycling

Horicon has a mandatory recycling law in effect. The requirements are as follows:

Plastic

All food, juice, detergent and shampoo plastic with a number. These must be clean with covers off.

Glass

Glass of any color. The glass must be clean with the covers off. We do not accept pyrex, drinking glasses, cups or window glass for recycling.

Broken glass is not accepted as a recyclable. It must be wrapped and placed with your household garbage.

Tin & aluminum

Any can that contained a food product. These must be clean, with one end completely out.

Paper

Newspapers: Whatever comes in your paper can be recycled. They must be clean and dry; wet or dirty newspaper goes with your garbage. IRS and real estate books go with the newspapers.

Junkmail: Anything that comes in the mail except for the journal and dollar stretcher. All junk mail catalogs, magazines, telephone books and puzzle books go together.

Cardboard: We accept corrugated cardboard only. It must be clean, dry, split on seams and flat. No boxboard.

Household batteries, small propane and aerosol cans go inside the recycling center

We do not take motor oil, the container it comes in, or car batteries.

We do not accept propane tanks.

Please keep all of the above items in separate containers when you bring them in.

We appreciate your cooperation in turning in clean recyclables.

Thank you.
